Children’s autism assessments · Sutton Coldfield
You’re in the right hands.
Personalised, multidisciplinary children’s autism assessments in Sutton Coldfield. Face-to-face care for families across Birmingham and the West Midlands.
We meet you first to understand your child and personalise the assessment pathway. If you continue, Phase 1 information and observations form part of the full assessment.
Your child’s assessment, step by step
We begin with understanding your child and your concerns, rather than asking you to commit to a full diagnostic assessment immediately.
1. Complete provisional registration
Tell us about your child and what you are seeking.
2. Pay the £250 Phase 1 fee
Your registration is then reviewed through clinical triage by Dr Laura Onens or her team. If our service is unsuitable for your child following triage, your £250 payment is refunded in full.
3. Book your Phase 1 assessment after triage
If suitable, you can then book with Dr Laura Onens, our autism pathway lead, or another Clinical Psychologist in our team. Phase 1 can take place in clinic or by video.
4. Explore the next step together
Phase 1 considers your concerns, your child’s background and whether a full autism assessment is appropriate. It does not provide a definitive autism diagnosis. There is no obligation to proceed to Phase 2.
A personalised full assessment
If you continue, the team brings together developmental history, direct observation, questionnaires and relevant information from parents, carers and school where appropriate. The diagnostic outcome, report and feedback follow completion of both Phase 2 stages. An assessment does not necessarily result in an autism diagnosis.
Clear fees. A choice at each stage.
Phase 1: £250
An initial assessment with a Clinical Psychologist to understand your concerns and consider the appropriate pathway. A full refund is provided if clinical triage finds our service unsuitable for your child.
Phase 2: £2,200
If recommended and you choose to proceed, the full autism diagnostic assessment is split into two payments:
- 2A — £1,100: in-clinic observations and questionnaires.
- 2B — £1,100: clinical interview, multidisciplinary team formulation, report and feedback.
Early-payment option: save £100
Pay for Phase 2 in full within 14 days of your Phase 1 appointment and Phase 2 costs £2,100. This discount cannot be combined with the combined autism and ADHD assessment discount.
Total including Phase 1: £2,450 with staged payments, or £2,350 with the early-payment discount.
Why do we structure it this way?
You can receive professional advice before committing to the full diagnostic assessment cost. Phase 1 helps us identify the appropriate pathway and any adaptations that may be helpful. Progression depends on the outcome of Phase 1; there is no obligation to continue.
Optional post-diagnostic support is charged separately. Any additional assessment components and their costs will be discussed before you agree to them.
